So you can choose different dates to see the Vatican and Colosseum.
✅ Discounted rates: The highlight of a combo ticket, is of course, its budget factor. Save at least 21% by booking this ticket, so that in about €100, you can see both these sites together.
✅ Guided access: Allow a guide to whisk you away into the interiors of both these hallowed sites: At the Colosseum, hear tales of bravado, bloodshed and machismo. Tips for a smooth visit to the Vatican Museums and Colosseum
As mentioned earlier, there’s no pressure to see both sites on the same day — in fact, it’s better to space your visits across separate days to fully appreciate their individual significance.
There are several ways to get to the Vatican Museums from the Colosseum or vice versa if you’re visiting on the same day. If you’re taking the metro from the Colosseum to the Vatican, you’ll have to switch to Line A at the Roma Termini station. If you’re traveling by bus, no. 81 takes you there directly without having to change. If you fancy walking, that’s possible too, it’ll take you an hour.
During the winter months, the Vatican is open for longer than the Colosseum, so finish the Colosseum first.
While the Colosseum has a relaxed dress code, you must cover your knees and shoulders before entering the Vatican.
No pets are allowed into the Colosseum; at the Vatican, guide dogs and service animals are permitted.
If you’re visiting both sites on the same day, it’s better to avoid carrying large backpacks (since only the Vatican Museums has a storage facility, not the Colosseum).
Mobile phone usage and photography are strictly prohibited inside the Sistine Chapel.
